Kuusamo Lapland, situated somewhere between the North and the South, the East and the West, in northeastern Finland, is exotic country. The region’s fells and pristine wilderness have enticed many artists there to capture the region’s nature. Northeastern Finland’s own already deceased great cultural figures, novelist Reino Rinne from Kuusamo and Finland’s favorite author, novelist Kalle Päätalo from Taivalkoski, have in their works created strong images of northeastern Finland, and its people, lifestyle and culture.
