Kuusamo Lapland is located on the highest inhabited tableland in the country. Only the uninhabited fells of Lapland are higher in elevation. The proximity of the Russian border and its Siberian coniferous forest belt make the region’s nature exceptional and diversified.

After the snowy winter, the verdancy of nature in summer is emphasized in the green river valleys. They abound in foaming rapids, rock canyons and peaceful pools.
