The traditional Iijoki River rowing event arranged since 1982 is a five-day rowing and canoeing event. The distance rowed each day varies from 30 to 40 kilometers. The whole trip is 160 kilometers long.

The route passes through changing scenery. There are strong and weak currents and over 100 rapids along the way. The trip begins at Jokijärvi in Taivalkoski and ends at Kipinä below Pudasjärvi.

You can participate in the event with a rowboat, a canoe or a kayak. About 300 people participate in the event in early July. The event is not a competition.
