Projects, The Call of Four Seasons
Kuusamo Lapland - The Call of Four Seasons, an internationalisation project in travel and tourism
The Call of Four Seasons is an internationalisation project that follows up on the success of an earlier project collaboration in the promotion of international tourism. The internationalisation process brings together the entire Northern Finland travel and tourism sector in increasingly close collaboration.
The previous collaboration project initially included the municipalities belonging to the North-East Finland Regional Centre (Kuusamo, Taivalkoski, Posio, Salla), but it also involved co-operation with Kemijärvi and Pudasjärvi. The new project entity covers still new regions, namely Pudasjärvi and Kemijärvi in Northern Ostrobothnia and Pelkosenniemi in East Lapland.
The aim of the project is to stimulate growth in international tourism and increase co-operation with the neighbouring municipalities in East Lapland and Northern Ostrobothnia, located in the sphere of influence of the Kuusamo Airport.
The goals and measures of the Kuusamo Lapland project are in line with the strategy outlined in the ERDF programme for Northern Finland in that the project aims to promote the creation of innovation, accelerate business growth, as well as improve the accessibility and attractiveness of the areas involved in the project. In the course of the project, purposeful action will be taken to remove obstacles to international tourism in Northern Finland.
