Kuusamo is the commercial centre of the region. The Kuusamo town centre serves residents of an economic zone that has a radius of around one hundred kilometres. For its size, Kuusamo boasts an excellent range of commercial services as well as all basic public services and welfare services.
In addition, the town centre has several small boutiques, as well as furniture and car dealers, restaurants, and supermarkets.
Kuusamo also has an airport, a high quality hospital, and a culture and congress centre, Kuusamo Hall, which houses a gallery and a movie theatre. Information on local services can be found in the local business directory.
In addition to the Kuusamo town centre, services can be found in the fast developing Ruka Holiday and Ski Resort as well as the centres of Taivalkoski and Posio. Both are located within an approximately 60 km radius of Kuusamo.
