KUUSAMO REGION
Located along the border of the provinces of Oulu and Lapland, the Town of Kuusamo and the neighbouring municipalities of Taivalkoski and Posio form an economic zone with around 30,000 inhabitants. The Kuusamo region serves as a northeastern gateway between the EU and Russia.
The region’s economy is based on travel and tourism, wood processing, industrial food production, metal industry and ICT industry.
For centuries, the Kuusamo region has held an attraction for people, and it still continues to charm and surprise both visitors and local residents with its diversity, beauty and well-rounded services.
